The Dream

 Ahoy all!

The progress has been steady towards our Alpha deployment. As we are tantalizingly close to this first major step, I look to the future. So here’s my dream, should we have a little luck, for what Project Airbags will be in five years time. 



Potential Games Studios has become a well known developer studio. After our massive success with airship pirates we were catapulted to international semi-stardom. Representatives from the team travel to gaming conventions and a rabid fan base has developed.

We routinely drop new seasons, as well as sprinkle in special events. We have a dedicated team of developers who are in regular contact with some of the most powerful players, we take in ideas and suggestions and create content from it. Our new major development is allowing players to create their own content, giving them tools to create everything from clothing, to weapons, full ships, and islands. The players from YPP have formed a core of players that both helped us get started but also have fun running events and epic battles themselves.

The game has inspired fanfics, is in talks for a movie deal, and at least one musical (Lin-Manuel Miranda you hearing this?). 




Personally it has also gone well.


  • Dabick has earned the Nobel prize in coding. He now works remotely from his orbiting supercomputer. It wasn`t even a category until he coded it into their system.
  • Calico has joined a secret order of international super hackers. He was last seen escaping a volcano with the crown jewels in his jetpack. 
  • Salty has turned into a professional poker player, after coding it for so long his mind has forever been altered. His only tell is that he occasionally yells ‘Yarr!’ when he wins a hand.
  • Masquedman’s boys are competing to beat AI at chess, while he himself now owns and runs a PR firm for poor indie developers.
  • Xerxes FINALLY LEARNS HOW TO PLAY THE CONCERTINA!
  • Russ will have turned his attention to PGS’ next big project:
Pirates: IN SPACE!!! 

He now travels in a personal hovercraft across the country to where-ever his wife wants to go next.

  • I myself will have moved to a ranch on the outskirts of a larger city, strategically placed on top of a high-speed internet line. I stay involved, doing art, reviewing work, and being an eccentric personality. I work on the next big idea during the day, and hose noobs online in the evening. Occasionally I build rocket-powered dune-buggies in my personal hangar.


That’s my dream at least. While it's a bit out there (the concertina is a difficult instrument after all) we are on our way to it. 

There is a lot more to come VERY soon. For legal reasons I cannot get into it, but there will be a big post at the end of the week with the details. Stay tuned!

New names, & old faces

     Ahoy sky-pirates and aeronautic adventures! While we are working towards our new big phase before we refactor and then do a big art update we wanted to share some business news. We have an official name for the game and have established a new company just for this project!      We have finished setting up our new game development company. We have named it:         trumpets playing in the distance RXR Games Studio!      R and R stands for Russ and Rock, or Rock and Russ, depending upon who's asking. Potential Games Studios will still be around for smaller projects, not associated with this effort.      This new game studio will allow Russ and I to better own the work we do together. Also, it will help us get a publisher! Fingers crossed      Speaking of new titles we'll be working under. We`re ready to announce the proper name of the game! You didn't really think we were gonna leave this game called Project Airbags, did you? We don't even have blimps or zeppelins

The tale thus far

Dev Blog -         Hello everyone, its been a spell since I last updated the community on the progress. A lot has been happening, in regards to myself, it's been rough. The wife passed and sapped most my energy and motivation, been going through some things. Still that hasn`t stopped the project we at Potential Games studio have given the codename: Airbags. (Its a working title). Progress so far:     Steampunk Airship Pirates - in 3D! We have converted to a 3D model. The isometric was proving difficult and time consuming, both Russ and myself have more experience in 3D and we`re working on low poly and simple textures so any phone or computer should be able to handle them. This will also allow us to do a 2.5D experience with several of the puzzles, where much of it is in 2D with some 3D elements added in.
