Bonus Content: Concept Art!

 Hoy' all!

    Recently we brought in a skilled artist who has been helping us with our art direction. One of the things we really need is an amazing cover art. Its the first thing that people see and helps set the tone of the game. It can bring in or turn away people. Felt it would be important to have something better than hasty stick figures, no matter how nice mine can look. 

    First we are developing the Pirate Queen. Captain Leela, the first Pirate Queen is an important character in the lore. So we`ve been developing her look. Started off with a few pictures of other characters, it was narrowed it down to this one:

Obviously the clothing won`t fit our setting, too sci-fi, but its a start. For those L.O.L players you may recognize her!

    After that we dove into some in-house work. Wanted an action scene, something with a good amount of details to catch but a focus on the 'pirate' ship. Decided to do a boarding scene, pirates flying everywhere, and clearly in the skies as opposed to on a sea.

    



    While having every one of these fully fleshed out would be fantastic, we have limited resources for that so we finally settled on a solid design. Incorporating our favorite parts of each. This was my quick sketch:

A bit too scandalous for the look, but a great character
    An important character deserves some good attention and detailing. To that end we've gone through more than a few rounds designing the pirate queen.    

    We wanted the pirate queen to capture both the playful nature and still command respect. In the lore she was once part of the massive Imperial navy as a well respected captain and commander. After a betrayal in the events that shattered the empire she turned to a life of a pirate and free person. 

    Players will enter roughly a year after her departure, when the fragile stability of the badlands is threatened by forces within and without.

    She will serve as a model pirate, and figurehead, and a storyline for players as well. Possibly even eventually trying to follow her path for fortune and glory.

Can't go wrong with a sharp sword and heels!    As of right now she's the primary pirate, but we are going to fill the world and lore with many others. Some will be related to her exploits, others will have stories of their own. 

    Stories of lost treasures, hidden technology from the world before its destruction. Super weapons from the secret labs of the Empire. Eventually we even want new factions, with wildly different ways to fly and fight! But that's a post for another day.

    These concepts are now behind where we are at, however to keep an allure of surprise we will keep the final few drafts until we have completed the work. If you`re enjoying it so far let the team know in the discord!

    One last thing, we are making some big moves internally and we have nailed down the OFFICIAL name of the game. Once we secure the rights we`ll share it with you all. Don`t be surprised if you see the name of a few things change, and don't worry we`re still the same group of passionate people. We cannot give a hard date as some of it relies on getting rights and legal documents submitted.
